BCPPL 2009 Season details
Feb 19 2009
We are pleased to share details of the British Columbia Paintball Championship Series for 2009.
As we enter our fifth year as a league, we can all be proud of the growth and future of the BCPPL. We also do not take lightly, the responsibility to the players, teams and industry of managing your league.
Most of the new facets we will implement this year comes from direct feedback by the players and local paintball business owners. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to contribute their input and constructive ideas that continue to make the league better and better every year.
We have kept a keen eye and ear to what is happening in the United States and around the rest of the paintball world. We believe many of the big changes occurring will be good for the sport in the long term. We strongly support the "player run" USPL starting up their operations after the fall of the NPPL.
Many other series have come and gone over the years, but the BCPPL remain strong and growth in both participation and quality with each and every event. Our goal continues to be constant improvement and unequaled value for every player.
In 2009 we will continue breaking new ground and pushing the limits of what our sport can become. We are proud of our achievements thus far, and will continue to strive to maintain what we have all achieved together……..
As always, if you have any questions about any changes, please feel free to e-mail us at info@bcppl.com and we will do our best to answer!

Website
We will be launching some web based initiatives in 2009. In May we will be launching an all new media site. The main function of this new website is to post video footage of every game from every event. There will be a small fee for each clip to pay the people who import, edit, host, and upload the footage. We would ask everyone interested to support the people that have offered to do this tedious work.
We will also be announcing some exciting new media partners very soon.
New Sup'air fields
The BCPPL is also pleased to announce that Sup’air has been added as a league sponsor for 2009. We will be updating our bunkers to the 2009 standard (7man and BCX) as soon as possible.
Locations
While every venue for 2009 has yet to be finalized, we can tell you the first event will be at Panther paintball. We are working on some new venues for the season, and expect to announce them all at once, very soon.
Rules
The 2009 BCPPL rulebook will be released soon. We can say that there will be some signifigant changes for 2009.
Rosters, Classification and Entry fees
Pump Division
After much collaboration and consideration, we will again offer a pump division. Maximum teams allowed at each event will be 4. Registration is on a first come, first served basis as with all other BCPPL divisions. Spots can be secured when event registration opens. Entry fees must be paid in full at the time of registration.
Division 4/Apprentice 5man
Rosters must include un-accomplished new players only. No player that has placed in ANY event is allowed. This is a beginner division only. All Div 4 players from last year who placed 1st or 2nd in any event can only play Div 3 (minimum) for the rest of their career. The BCPPL may at anytime move a Div4 team to Div3 with no or little notice.
Division 3/Rookie 5man
This division will remain largely unchanged. Maximum allowable total team points (as per BCPPL classification) are 100 points. This means if you were on a 1st place team in 2008, you will probably have to move up to Div2.
If you have played in more than 5 BCPPL events in your career, you should move to Division 2.
Division 2/Novice 7man
This division will continue to be for intermediate players only. We expect 10+ teams consistently at every event. Some of the top div2 teams from last year are bumping to division 1 for 2009.
Maximum allowable combined player points are 400.
Division 1/Amateur 7man
Any player may play 7man Division 1, including one PRO player per roster.
*NOTE: A player who has never played in Division 1 or 2 before, or any or any organized X-Ball league, may guest on one team in Division 1 or 2 in the same event. That player may do so only once in their career. Individual pacing’s will be placed against his or her record if he/she is on the roster, whether they actually play or not
.
Any player may apply to the BCPPL for re-classification. If you wish to do so, please email us at info@bcppl.com with the subject header "player classification". We will consider your request and respond to all applications quickly.
